সেরা অপারেটর
“আমার ভাই নেই, তিন বোন আমরা। ছোটবেলায় যখন গ্রামে থাকতাম সবসময় আমার আব্বা-আম্মাকে অপমান করতো সবাই। ভাই না থাকাটা কেন অপরাধ সেটা সে সময় কোনভাবেই বোধগম্য হয়নি। অনেকদিন ভাবতাম হয়তো আমাদেরই কোন ভুল আছে না হয় সবাই আমাদের এভাবে হেয় করবে কেন? সেই অমূলক প্রশ্নের উত্তর কখনো খুঁজে পাইনি, এখন আর পেতেও চাইনা। কারণ প্রশ্নের উত্তর না পেলেও অনেক বড় কিছুই ইতোমধ্যেই আমি পেয়ে গেছি। কেউ এখন আর প্রশ্ন করে না যে কেন আমাদের ভাই নেই। আমি এই গার্মেন্টসের অপারেটর, আমার ছোটবোন কলেজে পরে আর সবচেয়ে ছোট বোনটা পড়ে স্কুলে, ক্লাস সিক্সে। বাবা-মায়েরও কষ্ট নেই। আমার বেতন আর ছোটবোনের টিউশনির টাকায় ভালোই আছি। সবচেয়ে বড় কথা কি জানেন? এই কারখানায় এতো মানুষের মাঝে আমিই “সেরা অপারেটর” এর পদক পেয়েছি এই বছর। এইখানে কেউ আমাকে মেয়ে হিসেবে দেখেনা, মানুষ হিসেবে দেখে। এই আমার জীবনের সবচেয়ে বড় প্রাপ্তি এখন পর্যন্ত।” - একটি তৈরি পোএকটি তৈরি পোশাক কারখানার “সেরা অপারেটর” খেতাবপ্রাপ্ত অপারেটরশাক কারখানার “সেরা অপারেটর” খেতাবপ্রাপ্ত অপারেটর।
“I do not have a brother; just two sisters. Back in my village, when we were younger, everybody used to insult and undermine my parents because of this. Back then, I could not decipher how not having a brother or a son in the family is a crime to the society. I used to believe that we were at fault, or else why would everyone around us dislike us so much? Neither could I ever discover the answer to that baseless question, nor do I want to know it anymore, as I have found answer to something bigger and more valuable. Nobody questions me about not having a brother now. I am currently employed as an operator in this garment factory. My immediate younger sister is studying in college and the youngest one is attending school, grade six. My parents have no hardships or regrets because the income from my salary and my sister’s tuition handles our household very smoothly. Moreover, do you know the best part of it all? Amongst all the employees in this factory, I having been awarded as the best operator this year. Nobody here cares about the fact that I am a girl, they see me solely as a human being and I consider this as one of the biggest achievement in my life so far.” - An employee titled as the “Best-Operator” in a garment factory.
