বাংলাদেশি গার্মেন্টস শ্রমিকদের জীবন কাহানি

"এই যে গেঞ্জিটা দেখছেন, এইটা আমার বউ আমাকে দিয়েছে। পেশায় আমি মেকানিক হতে পারি, তার  কাছে আমিই দুনিয়ার সবচেয়ে বড় ইঞ্জিনিয়ার। কাজ শেষ করে বাসায় যাওয়ার পর আমি একটা ইলেক্ট্রিক দোকানে কাজ করি। টুকটাক মেরামত, বৈদ্যুতিক কাজ করতে পারি। মাঝে মাঝে প্রতিবেশীদের কাজও করে দেই। আমাদের দিন আনি, দিন খাই সংসারে এই আলাদা উপার্জনগুলো খুব কাজে লাগে। বেতনের টাকা থেকে বউ’কে কখনোই কোন হাতখরচ দিতে পারিনা। ইচ্ছা থাকলেও উপায় থাকে না। তাই এইসব ছোটখাটো উপার্জনের পুরো টাকাটাই বউয়ের হাতে তুলে দেই। তখন যে সে কি খুশি হয়! এইরকম টাকা জমিয়েই ও আমাকে এই গেঞ্জিটা কিনে দিয়েছে। দাম কত আমি জানিনা, কিন্তু এই উপহারের সাথে ওর যে ভালোবাসা জড়িয়ে আছে তা কোন মূল্যেই পরিমাপ করা যাবেনা। কিন্তু এখন আমি ওকে এমন হুটহাট খরচ করতে মানা করেছি। নিজেও কম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ খরচগুলো বাদ দিচ্ছি। কারণ কিছুদিন পরেই আমাদের সংসারে আরেকজন আসতে চলেছে। ওর জন্য আমি অনেক কিছু পরিকল্পনা করে রেখেছি। আমি হতে না পারলেও ওকে আমি সত্যিই ইঞ্জিনিয়ার বানাতে চাই। আর আমার বউয়ের পরিচয় হবে সত্যিকারের “ইঞ্জিনিয়ারের মা”।" - তৈরি পোশাক কারখানার একজন মেকানিক।

"My wife bought this t-shirt for me. I might be a mechanic by profession, but to her, I am the best engineer in the world! I work in an electric workshop after I am done here. I have learned to do a bit of electric repairing. Sometimes, I do this for my neighbors to earn a little extra. The extra money makes running our family a little easier. As much as I’d love to, it’s almost impossible for me to provide my wife with some extra allowance with the little that I earn. So, I give hall of whatever extra money comes out of these repair jobs. It makes her so happy! She saved up from that to buy this t-shirt for me. I don’t know how much it cost, but her lovely gesture is priceless! But, I’ve recently asked her  to refrain from these unnecessary spending. I am reducing such expenditure as well. Because, we are expecting a new addition to our family soon. I have so many plans! I want to make him an engineer so that my wife can finally become “an engineer’s mom”." - Mechanic at a ready made garments factory.
